A baby carrier that works right from birth? Absolutely! This carrier is designed with newborns in mind — here’s how:
Optimal head support
The top of the carrier features a double-folded, padded edge that moves up and down with ease. You position it exactly where support is needed: for newborns, just below the ears. Simple and secure.
Natural, ergonomic posture
Healthy hip development starts with the right carrying position: the natural M-position. Your baby sits with legs slightly spread and knees higher than the bottom — just like a tiny frog. As your baby grows, the legs can spread more. The carrier automatically adjusts to your baby’s size and can even be narrowed for the tiniest newborns.
Gentle on the back
To prevent pressure on your baby’s spine, you can attach the shoulder straps to the waist belt instead of the front panel. This ensures the right support, exactly where it’s needed.
Cross the straps on your back
Straps: attach to waistband or front panel
For newborns (0–3 months), attach the shoulder straps to the waistband. This prevents pressure on your baby’s back and gives that snug, secure support they need in the early months.
As the baby grows and gets heavier, many parents find it more comfortable to switch and attach the straps to the front panel instead. But it’s totally up to you – choose what feels best for you and your baby.
Safety
Safety is our top priority. That’s why this baby carrier has been thoroughly tested by TÜV and complies with the strict EU safety standards.
We’ve also chosen to use only Duraflex buckles – a brand known for its quality and durability. These buckles are made from recycled materials and are strong enough to withstand over 50 kg of force 💪
Front-facing position
We often get the question: Can I use your baby carrier for front-facing (facing out) carrying?
And the answer is yes – absolutely! Just take a look at the photo.
It is possible to carry your baby looking outwards in the baby carrier as of about 5-6 months. We don’t promote this kind of carrying, as it is less comfortable to wear this way, like it is with any other baby carrier… Baby’s center of gravity is further away from the caregiver’s body which can be more strenuous for your back and shoulders. If you carry in the inward-facing position, it feels much lighter 😉
Use outward facing with caution
You can carry an older baby facing outward once they have strong head and neck control, but use this position with caution and only for short periods. For most situations – especially longer carries – the inward-facing position remains the best choice for young babies. Once your baby has strong trunk and neck control (usually around 6 months), you can also use a back carry for longer outings.

The best tips for using the Baby Carrier
-
Tip 1For newborn babies: clip to the waistband
With our magnetic clips, you can attach the shoulder straps to either the front panel or the waistband. But for newborns, always clip them to the waistband.
Why? This keeps your baby in a natural, supported position and avoids putting too much pressure on their delicate back. When you attach the straps to the front panel, the fabric is pulled outward, which can place extra pressure on the back and push your baby’s legs into a wider position than they’re ready for (as shown below).

Ready for the next step?
As your baby grows stronger, you’ll notice they naturally open their hips and feel comfortable in a wider leg position. From that moment on, you can also attach the straps to the front panel. -
Tip 2Provide adequate head support
You can use your Baby Carrier right after birth. When your baby is correctly positioned and securely fastened, there is no need to additionally support your baby with your hands.
Newborns cannot yet support their own head, which is why it’s important that both the head and back are fully supported by the carrier, while your baby is sitting in a comfortable M-position.
If you still feel like you need to support your baby with your hands…
This usually means your baby isn’t positioned quite right yet. Try these simple adjustments:
- Place your baby’s hands upwards, close to their face.
- Cross the shoulder straps over your back and spread them wide over your shoulders (as shown in the photo). This gives extra neck and head support.
- Still not quite there? You can slightly adjust the Velcro on one side of the shoulder straps (inside the strap) a bit higher when your baby falls asleep. This adds extra stability.
Still unsure? 🤍
If you feel your baby’s head is not fully supported, you’re always welcome to send us photos at info@minimonkey.nl – we’re happy to take a look and help you out.

Tip 3Is the front panel not high enough?
Sometimes it can feel like the front panel is too low, but in most cases this happens because your baby isn’t sitting deep enough in the carrier yet.
Here’s how to fix it:
Before attaching the shoulder straps to the front panel or waistband, hold the top corners of the front panel with both hands. Gently lift the panel upwards – this will help your baby settle deeper into the carrier.
Once you then secure the straps, your baby will sit more naturally and the front panel will feel higher and better supporting your baby.
In this video, you can see exactly how to position your baby deeper in the carrier for the best fit.

Tip 4Front panel or waistband? You choose
The shoulder straps can be attached either to the front panel or to the waistband (see images). Some parents prefer the waistband, while others like the feel of the front panel – it’s all about what works best for you.
Every body is different, and what feels comfortable for one person might not feel the same for another. That’s exactly why we offer different carrying options.
We recommend trying both options to see which feels most comfortable.
For newborns 👶🏻: always attach the shoulder straps to the waistband. This avoids too much pressure on the back and prevents overstretching of the hips in those early weeks.
As your baby grows, your preference might change too – so keep checking in and adjust whenever needed 🤩
